I hope everyone enjoyed their break!
This week is Spirit Week for Adopt-A-Family project.

pastas, macaroni and cheese, etc.

Thursday is ER day. Students can dress up in something that
ends in “er” such as dancer, lawyer, soccer player, soldier, etc. Please make
sure outfits are appropriate for school. This day students are asked to donate

Sappington.

Santa 5-8. This is also the start of the book fair! Our class will get a chance
to preview the book fair on Friday.
In math, we are
finishing up Chapter 19. We will be having out test on Thursday. I sent home
the review today which should be completed by Wednesday. The test will cover all of the geometry that
we have learned so far. Students should know the different types of polygons,
types of angles, and about motion geometry (lines of symmetry, rotational
symmetry, translations, reflections, congruent and similar figures). Be sure to
check out the class blog to help study for the test.
In reading, we are
starting to learn about Author’s Purpose. Students can remember this using the
saying PIE (Persuade, Inform, and to Entertain). We will be looking at different types of text and
determine the authors purpose of writing them throughout the week. Book
projects are due FRIDAY, December 6th. Students are able to work on
them during assigned time in class or for their reading/writing homework.
In writing, we will be
working on choosing our topic and thesis statements this week for our essay
writing.
In science, students
are continuing to learn about ecosystems.
In social studies,
students are continuing to learn about early Missourians.
