Monday Message

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

We have our first early release day this Wednesday, September 18^th. We will dismiss at 1:40. At open house everyone filled out an early release form letting me know how your child will get home on these days. Please let me know if I need to make any changes.

This week in math we will be continuing on Chapter 3 and taking a quiz on Wednesday. It will cover addition and subtraction up to 4 digits with carrying and borrowing, estimation, and problem solving. The study guide will be coming home tomorrow. Starting on Thursday we will be beginning Chapter 4 which is learning how to write and solve addition and subtraction equations and expressions.

This week in reading we will begin guided reading groups! I am excited to meet with students in small groups to discuss our reading. We are also continuing to build our stamina and the ability to make connections with the text.

This week in writing we are taking a look at revising. We are talking about what makes good leads and what good closings look like.

Please turn in permission slips for our upcoming Field Trip on October 10^th. Let me know if you need an extra permission slip sent home.

Updates from SPTG: Great American Fundraiser: The fundraiser is in full swing, and we thank you for your participation!  Remember, that there are 2 more days to turn in Lucky Monkey coupons--Tuesday, September 17 and Friday, September 20.  Final turn-in days for orders is September 24, but feel free to turn your orders in anytime you feel your order is complete.

The Great American Fundraiser is our one, large-scale fundraiser of the year where we make up the most of our operating budget--we are not selling Entertainment books or EFG (Major Saver) Cards anymore.  We will have smaller fundraisers, and we certainly appreciate any help you can give.
