I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
We have a busy week ahead of us.
On Wednesday, we will have a Blue
Ribbon Assembly at 9:00. I will be handing out t-shirts Wednesday morning.
Please have students wear something that t-shirt can fit over easily.
On Friday, we will be going on our
field trip to the Magic House. We plan to leave school around 9:15 and return
by lunch time. If you are attending the field trip and would like to ride the
bus please be at Sappington no later than 9:15. If you would like to meet us at
the Magic House our field trip begins at 9:45.
On Friday once we return our class will
attend a Safe Surf Assembly as this time.
This Friday is “Warm-Up Night”. This is
a Chili Cook-Off/ Parents vs. Staff Volleyball Game. The chili tasting will
start at 5:30. The volleyball game begins at 6:30. The event is free but
donations can be made to vote on the best chili to benefit Sappington. The proceeds collected from the chili tasting will go to our counselors to help a Sappington family
in need. New this year: A special pot will be a designated
collection for the Gapsch Family Fund.
This week in math we are continuing to work on Geometry. We are
learning about different types of quadrilaterals, and about circles. We will have a quiz on Thursday. I will be
sending home a review Tuesday night that will be due Thursday morning. Please
check out our class blog for anchor charts to help study for the quiz!
In writing, we are beginning to work on essays. We will be
generating different ideas and topic that writers can write essays about.
In reading, we are continuing to make inferences in fictional stories.
Being able to make inferences is an important concept in the fourth grade
curriculum.
In social studies, students are learning about the first Missourians.
In science, students are continuing to learn about ecosystems.
